HP-UX 11i v1.6 critical impact:

Problem description

The mvalid routine exists on Tru64 UNIX and will be available with the HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release. This functionality will also be temporarily available in the Tru64 UNIX Migration Environment for HP-UX.

The mvalid routine checks the validity of a memory region. The Migration Environment contains Tru64 UNIX APIs, development tools, commands and utilities to assist customers in migrating their applications from Tru64 UNIX to HP-UX.

Solution description

The mvalid routine is available in the Migration Environment and will also be available with the HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release.

Applications will be able to use this API from the Migration Environment and the HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release. The mvalid routine may have limitations that are not present in the Tru64 UNIX version. Monitor the mvalid manpage for more information about these limitations.

Please note that the Migration Environment is temporary.
