CMD Impacts

Problem description

Some more command functionality on Tru64 UNIX differs from HP-UX. In addition, some options are not available on HP-UX.

The more command displays a file one screenful at a time.

The +/pattern option exists on both systems, but the described Tru64 UNIX behavior is different on HP-UX. On Tru64 UNIX, this starts up at the line containing the regular expression pattern. On HP-UX, this starts a listing so that the current position is set to two lines above the line matching the regular expression pattern.

The following options are supported on Tru64 UNIX, but are not available on HP-UX:

  • -N - Suppresses line numbering.

  • -h - Help mode.

  • -q - Requires an explicit quit command, rather than quitting automatically, when the spacebar is hit at the end of file.

  • -r - Ignores most control characters that it does not interpret in some way.
