critical impact:

btextract, bttape, and btcreate - commands not supported (CrUn301)

CMD Impacts

Problem description

The btextract, bttape, and btcreate commands exist on Tru64 UNIX but not on HP-UX.

The btextract command extracts the file systems from tape in single-user mode in memory. The bttape command is a bootable tape creation utility. The btcreate command builds a bootable Standalone System (SAS) kernel on tape.

Solution description

The make_tape_recovery and make_boot_tape commands available in the Ignite-UX product can create a system recovery and boot tape. For more information on using make_tape_recovery, see the manpage on an Ignite-UX server or the commands section of the Ignite-UX Administration Guide. The guide is available on the HP-UX 11i Instant Information CD and the HP documentation Web site.
