fees

There are no fees associated with the HP Hardware Provider Program.

However, certification testing is performed by an independent test facility. Certification testing fees are payable directly to the authorized test lab and are due at the time of product testing. Payment can be made by credit card, purchase order, company check, or wire transfer. Pricing discounts can be negotiated for bundled products that are of the same family type. For a price quote, please send an e-mail message to: hphp.support@hp.com.

general

Participation in the HP Hardware Provider Program requires the fulfillment of the following company, product and product support criteria. The "Certified for HP-UX" testing and logo program has additional requirements and these are also noted below.

1.0 HP Hardware Provider Basic Program Requirements

1.1 Membership requirements

  • Develop and market hardware I/O solutions.
  • Demonstrate capability in sales, marketing, technical support and engineering of your products.
  • Must have at least one product that supports HP-UX 11i or beyond and/or must be willing to port a product to HP-UX within 12 months of entering program.

1.2 Company requirements

  • Company must be capable of offering product directly to end-user.
  • Company must be willing to allocate sufficient marketing resources to promote their product on the HP-UX platform.

1.3 Product requirements

At present, all PCI, PCI-X and PCIe based networking and mass storage adapters that meet the outlined technical and support requirements are eligible to be tested and classified as "Certified for HP-UX" or listed as HP-referenced products. In the future, this functionality may be expanded to other components and devices.

1.4 Product testing requirements

The reference partner products represent the minimum product testing requirements. Reference tested products are those where the HP Hardware provider is responsible for all product testing and agrees to provide adequate and quality support. When HP test suites are not available, vendors are required to verify their product compatibility. The vendor agrees to technically support any HP customer who requires assistance with their products. Once the product has been ported and tested by the partner, it can then be listed as "referenced" in the HP Hardware Provider product solution directory. The next level of testing is known as the "Certified for HP-UX" and represents the highest level of testing available to a partner's product. HP customers are encouraged to look for the "Certified for HP-UX" when selecting 3rd party products.

1.5 Product technical requirements

  • Product must be supported on HP-UX operating system version 11i and beyond.
  • Adapter products must comply with PCI 2.1 or greater.
  • Product must be easy to install and uninstall.
  • The power requirements, AFR(Annual Failure Rate), and MTBF(Mean Time Between Failures) for the product must be within acceptable limits.
  • Product must conform to relevant compatibility standards e.g. IEEE 802.3, ITU V.90, SPI-3, etc.
  • Product must have cleared relevant Safety and Electromagnetic compatibility certificates e.g. FCC Part 15, Class B, CE, VCCI Class 2, UL 94V0, etc.
  • Product must exceed minimum performance standards.
  • Product must meet appropriate hardware compliance requirements.
  • Product should not interfere with operation of the server or other system components.
  • Driver software must conform to HP's Driver Development Environment interfaces. Product must successfully pass all relevant conformance tests.
  • Drivers and software needs to be packaged to HP's Software Depot package requirements. Product must install and uninstall correctly.
  • Product needs to be accompanied by clear and well-defined configuration scripts and documentation. These include but are not limited to installation and usage scripts and instructions, quick start guides, read-me files, etc.
  • Product needs to be accompanied by appropriate peripherals (muxes, switches, hubs, etc) and cables as required. In cases where the cable types are fairly generic, connection cable information needs to be provided.
  • Diagnostic modules need to be made available as appropriate.
  • Product must demonstrate performance greater than or equal to minimum threshold values as defined by HP.
  • Product must be localized and internationalized as appropriate.
  • Product must not use any undocumented HP features or information and should only avail of publicly exported and supported interfaces.
