About the Enterprise Management Alliance Program (EMAP)

Q. What is the Enterprise Management Alliance Program?
A. EMAP is a partner program to assist in the development and deployment of partner HP Software-integrated software solutions. The ultimate objective of EMAP is to increase both HP and partner sales as a result of being able to solve more of a given customer's problem than either the partner solution or HP Software solution could do alone.
Q. What type of partner is EMAP intended for?
A. EMAP is a partner program primarily for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who use, extend, and enhance HP Software products and solutions with their applications.
Q. How much does it cost to join EMAP?
A. EMAP offers a multi-tiered approach in membership levels. This allows you to choose the level that makes sense based on your business need:
  • Silver Business Partner — US$2,000 per year
  • Gold Business Partner — US$10,000 per year

For a summary of the benefits at each membership level, please see our Benefits page.

Q. How does my company become a member of EMAP?
A. See the Requirements page for details about how to enroll in DSPP and other steps needed to complete your EMAP membership.
Q. I thought the levels were Gold and Platinum - what changed?
A. The names of the levels changed in June 2008 in order to better align the EMAP program with the HP Software Global Partner Program levels. Program benefits were not affected.
Q. Where is the detailed information about becoming a member?
A. We've set aside a "new member" area of our website just for you. Once your application for membership has been approved, you'll be sent access codes to this area where you'll find all the information you'll need (forms for requesting software licenses, technical criteria for integration or certification testing, links to technical and business content of particular interest to you, etc.).
Q. Can we certify our company's integrated software application if we don't join EMAP?
A. No. Only Gold Business Partners can have their applications certified with HP Software solutions.
Q. What kind of development support will HP offer to partners as part of EMAP?
A. There is no development support available through EMAP. Gold Business Partners enjoy high-level integration strategy guidance and Certification of the integration as your integration is architected. In all cases, it is assumed that your company will have a technical understanding of the HP Software product targeted for integration.

Support for HP software must be obtained through standard HP support channels. See the HP Software Support page for options.

Q. Can I request evaluation copies of HP Software developer kits without joining EMAP?
A. Some software is available via the Evaluation software page.

EMAP members can use development licenses and have access to a broad set of products. Upon request, Silver Business Partners can receive up to 5 concurrent licenses annually and Gold Business Partners can receive up to 15 concurrent licenses annually.

Q. How will membership in EMAP contribute to my company's success?
A. Benefits of membership are described on the Benefits page. The purpose of the Enterprise Management Alliance Program is to increase sales of partner solutions and HP Software; your company will have an opportunity to increase customer awareness and confidence in your software solutions when you are an EMAP member. By providing clear evidence of pre-integrating your solution with HP Software, you can enhance awareness of the commitment to the marketplace your company makes with customers who currently use HP Software products and solutions.
Q. How do I renew my membership?
A. Membership in EMAP is automatically renewed at the same level on the anniversary date of the contract signing. You will receive an invoice from HP for your current membership level approximately two weeks after your renewal date.

If you would like to change your membership level, please contact the EMAP program manager.

Q. What services are covered under EMAP marketing services?
A. Joint partner webcasts, joint sales brochures, sucess stories, case studies, review anad approval of partner press releases, and Integrated Solution Catalog pages.

About selling your product

Q. Will HP resell my product?
A. As a fee-based, go-to-market program, EMAP is intended to provide visibility and integration opportunities with HP Software products; this does not include reselling arrangements.
Q. How does a joint customer purchase my product?
A. Customers either work directly with you and HP to purchase components of a joint solution or work with a service provider who, in turn, purchases the components on behalf of the customer. Your company, however, can use the EMAP program for reference selling by making sure your application information in the Integrated Solution Catalog is up to date. Your company's presence in the catalog is a result of achieving certification or integration approval status with the EMAP integration team, meeting the established criteria for these technical certification levels.
Q. Where can a joint customer get information about my product?
A. Customers can find information about contacting your company in the Integrated Solution Catalog pages associated with your company and product. Note: you must meet all EMAP requirements in order to have your company and product shown in the catalog.
Q. What do I need to do to be listed in the Integrated Solution Catalog?
A. The EMAP program is very interested in having your company listed in the Integrated Solution Catalog. If you don't see your company there, we need to get your membership agreement or renewal in place. Contact the EMAP program manager for details specific to your company.
Q. How does my company participate in HP events?
A. While we cannot guarantee you a booth or speaking opportunity at HP events, we can help keep you aware of such opportunities. As a member of EMAP, you'll receive communications from us, some of which may include opportunities to submit abstracts, staff an event booth, write a success story for publication on the Web, etc.
